    Prof. Jarushka Naidoo

    Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre, Dublin, Ireland

    Prof. Jarushka Naidoo is a consultant medical oncologist at Beaumont Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) Cancer Centre in Dublin, Ireland, professor of medical oncology at RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, and an adjunct professor of oncology at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, USA. read more

    Prof. Naidoo graduated with her medical degree (MB BCh BAO) from Trinity College Dublin, and completed internal medicine training and a medical oncology fellowship through the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. She then completed an awarded advanced fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, and joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins University in 2015. At Johns Hopkins, she led a portfolio of clinical trials and translational studies focused on immunotherapy for lung cancer and immune-related adverse events, and was the co-chair of the multidisciplinary Johns Hopkins immune-related toxicity team.

    She recently returned to Ireland to lead the lung cancer programme at Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre. She will also serve as the chair of the thoracic oncology committee for Cancer Trials Ireland, where she will direct and lead the national clinical trial programme for lung and thoracic cancers.

    Prof. Naidoo is the chair of the Immunotherapy Subcommittee of the NRG Clinical Trials Cooperative Group, serves on the ASCO NSCLC and Immune-Related Toxicity Guideline panels, and the scientific committees for ASCO, ESMO and IASLC World Lung Annual Meetings. She is the recipient of several grants and awards including a National Institutes of Health KL2 Clinical Scholar Award, Lung Cancer Foundation of America/IASLC Foundation Young Investigator Research Award and Irish Cancer Society’s Clinician Research Leadership Award 2022.

    Dr Heist’s research is focused on novel investigational agents in lung cancer and molecular targets in cancer. She is an active member of the Thoracic Oncology group and the Henri and Belinda Termeer Center for Targeted Therapies at MGH, and leads first-in-human clinical trials of investigational drugs, bridging the gap from translational science to phase I/Ib clinical trials.

    Dr Antonio Passaro is a medical oncologist at the Division of Thoracic Oncology, European Institute of Oncology in Milan, Italy. read more

    His main areas of research and clinical interest are predictive biomarkers, in particular EGFR and related targeted and immunotherapy agents, from discovery to validation in the clinical setting. He is also highly involved in the use of targeted agents in non-metastatic settings, either alone, or in a multimodality approach, for early or locally-advanced disease.

    Dr Passaro is involved in a portfolio of many clinical trials, both industry-funded and academic, investigating a range of novel lung cancer therapies. He has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals.  He also serves as a member of several national and international scientific committees.

    • Outline the rationale for and mechanisms of action for antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) under investigation in NSCLC, and implications for patient selection
    • Evaluate the latest clinical trial data for ADCs in patients with advanced or metastatic NSCLC
    • Discuss incidence rates and severity of adverse events (AEs) associated with ADCs in metastatic NSCLC and potential role for therapeutic dose optimization strategies in AE management
    Overview

    In this activity, three oncology experts highlight the emerging role of ADCs in the treatment of patients with advanced NSCLC, including their mechanistic rationale and role of biomarkers in patient selection, the latest efficacy and safety data, and dose-finding strategies for optimal use in NSCLC. The discussion is guided by pre-canvassed questions provided by healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients with NSCLC.
