Integrating surgical oncology into cancer care across Europe can be challenging, but it plays a critical role in cancer care. It was a pleasure to talk to Professor Isabel Rubio, President-Elect of the European Societ of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), to discuss current projects and initiatives of the society for the coming year and the recent advances in minimally invasive surgery to improve quality of care and quality of life for the patient.
