At the 7th SIOP Europe Annual Meeting, the Projects in Spotlight sessions showcased the collaborative initiatives between SIOP Europe and key stakeholders. These projects aim to improve outcomes, coordination between research and clinical care, reduce inequalities, and strengthen patient-centred care across Europe.
Beyond the five projects featured in this article, the Spotlight Sessions also highlighted a broad range of European collaborative initiatives in which SIOPE takes place to advance paediatric and adolescent cancer research and care, including IMAGIO, PanCare4AYA, SPARC, JANE2 NoE on AYA, Partner4VRT, and INTERACT-EUROPE 100. Together, these projects reflect the strength of cross-border collaboration and innovation within the European paediatric oncology community.

IMPACT-EU: strengthening psychosocial care across Europe

IMPACT-EU aims to strengthen psychosocial support for children with cancer and their families. The project is developing European standards, mapping services, and implementing interventions such as peer support and training programmes to improve equity in care.

MONALISA: improving monitoring in neuroblastoma

The MONALISA project highlights the development of liquid biopsy approaches to monitor relapse in high-risk neuroblastoma. A newly opened clinical trial will assess whether these methods can detect progression earlier and reduce reliance on invasive procedures.

ERN PaedCan: improving data, networks and outcomes

ERN PaedCan is continuing the expansion of its cross-border network, including increased use of its Clinical Patient Management System (CPMS), delivery of training programmes, and wider access to European clinical practice guidelines.

SCARLET: strengthening survivorship research

The SCARLET project is focused on building survivorship research capacity in Lithuania. Activities included estimating the national survivor population, initiating studies on late effects, and delivering targeted education and training.

YARN: European Youth Cancer Network

YARN weaves together and builds on the EU-CAYAS-NET and OACCUs projects to expand the EU Network of Young People Affected by Cancer, focusing on peer support, social networking, and digital tools to improve access to information, particularly for those facing relapse, metastatic cancer, and treatment side effects.
